The President of the Thai Supreme Court, H.E. Charnchai Likhitjittha, headed a delegation visit the Doi Tung Development Project from 3-5 February 2006. The visit was aimed at fostering cooperation networks between the Thai agencies involved in the fight against drugs and enhancing understanding on a holistic, sustainable approach in combating the drug problem.

The highlight of H.E. Armand De Decker’s, the Minister of Development and Cooperation of Belgium, visit to Doi Tung from 4-5 February 2006 was the signing of the …Agreement solidifying the Belgian government’s efforts to support the project to rehabilitate Afghanistan led by Mae Fah Luang Foundation. Accompanying H.E. De Decker was an enthusiastic team of Belgian press who were highly interested in Mae Fah Luang’s projects and their contributions to solving Thailand’s drug problem. |

The First Lady of Peru, Dr. Eliane Karp de Toledo, accompanied by the wife of the Thai Foreign Minister, Mrs. Soparvan Suphamongkhon, visited Doi Tung from 9-11 February 2006. The Peruvian side also included H.E. Carlos M. Velasco, Peru’s Ambassador to Thailand, and Mrs. Velasco as well as representatives from the Peruvian diplomatic mission in Thailand.

On 26-27 August 2006, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), led by H.E. Deputy Permanent Chariyavat Santaputra, organized a visit to Doi Tung Development Project, comprising diplomats from 30 different countries; including H.E. Mr. Shahed Akhtar, H.E. Mr. Andras Balogh, and H.E. Mr. Ignazio Di Pace, Ambassadors of Bangladesh, Hungary and Italy to Thailand, respectively; senior officers from the UNDP and UNODC, and representatives from all the departments of the MFA as well as officials from the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB). |
