THE PRINCESS MOTHER COMMEMORATIVE HALL
The Princess Mother Commemorative Hall presents the life and work of one of the most beloved persons in Thai history, the Princess Mother, who is also affectionately known to the Thai people as “Somdej Ya”, the people’s Royal Grandmother. Trace the steps in The Princess Mother’s remarkable Royal Journey. The fairy tale begins from the moment she walked into the life of HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkla, the royal wedding, the life she shared with HRH Prince Songkla overseas in England, Germany and the United States, the many roles assumed by HRH The Princess Mother -- as a caring mother of two monarchs and a daughter, that of “Somdej Ya – the people’s “Royal Grandma” and “Mae Fah Luang – the Royal Mother from the sky” who reached out and won the hearts of the Thai people. HRH the Princess Mother dedicated her life to the conduct of royally-sponsored developmental initiatives for the benefit of the country and its people and endeared herself to the Thai nation. Her contribution to humanity was recognised by UNESCO in its description of the Princess Mother as a “World Great Personality of the 20th Century”.
