2: The Dhamma

The
second disc of the triptych is a comprehensive introduction to the Dhamma
- the Universal Law - which the Lord Buddha rediscovered for mankind.
This timeless teaching encompasses the Four Noble Truths about the nature,
origin and cessation of universal suffering and the Eightfold Path of
liberation. Starting with the prelude of the fierce attack of Mara*,
the Evil One, who leads his hordes of demons to try to prevent the Buddha
from reaching Enlightenment, we follow the Buddha through the three
watches of the night of Enlightenment, during which he gained successive
insight into his previous existences (Jataka* Tales), a profound understanding
of the cycle of kammic rebirth, and lastly the complete and final liberation
of the heart! An entire section of this disc is dedicated to the interactive
3D exploration of the mechanics of the law of cause and effect as understood
in the Buddhist doctrine of dependent origination.
An overview of Buddhist cosmology and a variety of selected texts introduce the user to such concepts as the doctrine on Non Self, the Five Aggregates, and many more, completing this comprehensive introduction into the fundamentals of Buddhist teachings. |
