THE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION CENTRE AND OPEN ZOO

The Wildlife Conservation Centre covers an open space of over 200 rai (equivalent to 32 hectares) of rejuvenated watershed forests. The centre serves as a wildlife breeding and animal conservation station to promote the revival and reintroduction of rare breeds of fowls and mammals and other endangered species, such as fireback pheasants, peacocks, birds, sambar deer, and barking deer, into the surrounding forested hills. To ensure their continued survival, the endangered wildlife from nearby forests is kept at the Wildlife Conservation Centre.

Until such time when the Doi Tung watershed has made a significant recovery, the native wildlife kept at the conservation centre will be released and reintroduced into the surrounding forestlands. The facility also serves as an open zoo, allowing visitors to observe a variety of wildlife in their natural surroundings.
